Thank you for taking time to read my submission. I have been a designer/creator/builder since joining Second Life four and a half years ago. My ability to go from concept to usable object, or in the case of Cocoa Bay; an entire community, makes my skill set a perfect fit for this position.

Designing and building the physical objects is a small part of creating a community. Working with others in a collaborative effort to reach goals is most important. Cocoa Bay started with 11 empty sims. It is now home to over 300 residents. It combines single family & apartments complete with its own government including a mayor, police force and volunteer fire department. Creating and building this community is one of my most cherished accomplishments.

I have knowledge in nearly every area of building in Second Life. My sim design skills coupled with extensive scripting experience will be an asset to Second Pride. Some notable creations include a mail system that integrates off-the-shelf rental boxes that function just like real mailboxes. Also, I have created a system called Cocoa Cash enabling our residents to transfer cash to each other. This system was created using LSL, PHP, HTML & CSS.

My objective for Second Pride would be to provide a pleasing and comfortable environment for guests while paying close attention to items that detract from the total experience, ie lag. My strong knowledge of the latest low land-impact items and tricks I’ve picked up over the years, ie script reducing techniques, will help me create a wonderful space for guests.
Thanks again for taking time to read my submission and I ask for your support in selecting me as Building Coordinator.

One issue brought up at the last Pride meeting was a lack of community involvement in Pride. I would like to see the Pride sim re purposed to allow many creators/designers an opportunity to show off their talent. One way this could be done is to create venues that could be used year round. The sim is there, why not give opportunities to LGBT community to show off their craft?. Would you be open to this? And if so, how would you organize such collaboration?

I believe the sim is not currently being used to its full potential. I will work with all members of the board in creating a space tailored to the specific event. I view my team’s role as providing the infrastructure for the sim and will defer to the other board members to actually organize the event itself. Certain considerations, ie Linden Labs Terms Of Service specifically, as it relates to the moderate classification must be addressed for any sort of use. I apologize that I can’t give more specifics without knowing pertinent information from the stakeholders, ie type of event, special needs, desired aesthetic, etc. I feel the number of candidates in this election is a small but important step forward including more people in the decision making process. I do have an idea I am in the process of working on to bring up with the new board after the election, but wish to not give details yet as it must be discussed further. Enthusiastic members will attract equally enthusiastic participants and I look forward to being part of the Second Pride Board.

It is great to note your commitment to be a part of Second Pride that goes above and beyond the annual Second Pride event. Regardless of the outcome of the election, I hope to be a part of giving the Second Pride sim greater life. I believe that event planning and sim building go hand in hand. My hope is that all Pride board members be open to a greater outreach and service to the Second Life LGBT community. And I hope they will be open and able to bring many creators/builders/artists to that table. I really believe this is key to breathing even more life into the Second Pride event as a whole.

First, Thank you for your interest and candidacy.

Second, Over the last year, the current board has done much in the way of repairing the perceptions of Second Pride as an organization. Many sideline discussions with affected and effected parties have gone on.

My question to you as a candidate and potential new Board member is how will you personally continue this trend?

Any and all issues would be kept privately between myself and the person(s) involved. I am always open to discuss any issues that anyone has and if needed bring them up with the appropriate board member, or the board as a whole. Even if I can’t resolve the problem brought to me, I would do my best to look into fixing it and taking appropriate actions. Everyone has their own views and every opinion matters in order to make Second Pride successful.
