On the basis of Article V (Committees) , Section 4 of the By-Laws I am creating a temporary Ad Hoc committee, to explore the possibility of creating a new group, “The Second Pride Foundation”.

The purpose of the group would be act as the exclusive recipient of any “excess” funds generated from Second Pride fundraising activities, including the festival. The foundation would be the organization that would distribute these funds to worthy groups within Second Life that support LGBT activities.

The purpose of this would be for Second Pride to concentrate on fundraising and the foundation to concentrate of the distribution of funds.

I’m tasking the committee to generate suggestions to the Second Pride Board as to the : Makeup of the Foundation Board, how it would operate, on what basis it would determine who receives Second Pride funds, and how it would be established, ie- its bylaws and operating basis. A few more areas to explore might be : who determines the Foundation Boards officers? ( are they picked by any existing Board, for the next years operations?, Are the appointed, elected or a combination of both? How much influence does the Second Pride Board have over any new Foundation Board? The possibility of creating this Foundation, which has been tossed around for several years, raises ample questions. The Ad Hoc committee will explore the possibilities, and the issues above, and report back to the Second Pride Board within 4 weeks of this note being published.

Any member, in good standing, of Second Pride, including board members, may be a member of this AdHoc committee, and I would encourage wide participation. Please contact me if you have any interest in serving of this committee for its relatively short life and narrow purpose.

On February 13th we had the first of a series of events fund raisers. Monday the 13th  we had a Valentine’s Day dance at The Riviera ..The singer for that day canceled the night before and couldn’t be replaced..So we had a dance with DJ Tomtom. 2-4pm slt…

It went well and we had a great time Tuesday the 14th Valentines Under the Stars Hosted by the Gay Riviera and catered by Pacific Beach Restaurant.

As people arrived they got their pictures taken. They were escorted to their tables. The wait staff took care of their every need and served a fine meal… during the meal and after ZDiva sang and took requests… She is Fabulous!!!

Afterwards we had a great time dancing to the music of DJ Merrick… the Event was also broadcast on BOSL radio!! The whole night was outstanding and everyone had a great time. The pictures that were took that night were framed and delivered to each couple as a souvenir of the evening. Baz Ceawlin and Mr Gracemount did an outstanding job setting up and carrying out the evenings events!! My thanks to them both. A musical composition of Love Songs performed by  Pride Players, headed by Marcus Steeplechase. Wesley Spengler  emceed/DJ for the evening

Love songs from several eras including Boy Wanted sung by Ella Fitzgerald  Your Love is My Drug sung by Ke$ha and  many more.  Was a beautiful evening and the performers were outstanding!!!

A Huge Thanks to Marcus for putting all of this together ..truly a labor of Love!! In conclusion we made approximately $46,661 linden dollars from that week.
